Job Offer: W3-S Professorship in Historical Educational Research
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Institute for Education Studies, and DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education invite applications for a
W3-S Professorship in Historical Educational Research
to be filled as soon as possible.
The successful candidate is expected to head the Infrastructure and Research Department “BBF | Reseach Library for the History of Education” at the DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education. Department heads at the DIPF are members of the institute's board.
The research programme focuses on German history of education in modern times, including its transnational references. The successful candidate is expected to continue and further develop the existing programme in the direction of research that is oriented towards the history of knowledge and social history.
In doing so, the successful candidate ought to take a special interest in historical questions of school and teaching development, the education system and education policy. The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing the BBF and its team of around 30 employees as well as for further developing the BBF as a central infrastructure facility; the particular focus here is on expanding digital services. The teaching obligations of the professorship (reduced teaching load) will be at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
We are looking for a leader who has established themselves nationally and internationally through outstanding scientific achievements in the field of historical educational research. Research experience with German-language archive material is expected. Experience in acquiring third-party funding, managing research projects, personnel management and interdisciplinary cooperation, particularly with regard to cooperation at the DIPF and at the Institute of Education Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, is expected. Experience in managing and developing research infrastructures is also expected.
