Use of the BBF and its Online Services After the Cyber Attack

Digital Archives, Online Platforms and Catalogs

As a result of a cyber attack, all BBF online services had to be relaunched. There are still minor functional limitations, but the data is available again as of October 2022 and will be further expanded from now on. The permanent digital identifiers (URNs/DOIs) you have priviously saved or cited are already working again or will be working again shortly. Links from Wikipedia or from the German Digital Library (Deutschen Digitalen Bibliothek) to digital copies in our databases ScriptaPaedagogica and PicturaPaedagogica some times do not yet work again, due to technical problems wirh the resolving system. In these cases, please repeat the search directly in the corresponding databases. We are working on a solution to the problem.

Information about the individual digital services and any restrictions that may still exist:

• Archive Database

  All general descriptions of archival holdings, including holdings that have not yet been indexed in detail, are searchable again in the Archive Database. In addition, about 90 fully indexed holdings and collections, including subunits, have been restored.
  The digitized Prussian Elementary School Teachers' Index and the Personnel Records of the Teachers at Prussian Higher Schools are also fully available and can be called up directly from the database. In addition, you can access some digital finding aids on the open access repository PeDOCS and printed finding aids are available on site. Work is still underway to restore the database's enhanced functionality.

• Library Catalog
  
  The Library Catalog is fully functional, but not all links to the digitized items in ScriptaPaedagogica or PicturaPaedagogica have been updated yet.
  
  
• bildungsgeschichte.de
  
  The site is back online and fully functioning.
  
  
• EditionenBildungsgeschichte
  
  Our editions are fully available again, with the exception of the digitized copies of Charlotte Lepke's Travel diary.
  
  
• InterlinkingPictura
  
  The Wiki is fully functional except for the links to PicturaPaedagogica. As all pictures are directly available on the Wiki, these links will not be repaired.
  
  
• PicturaPaedagogica
  
  All approximately 130,000 digitized images are available online again, minor corrections or adjustments are still being made to the functionalities.
  
  
• SchularchiveWiki
  
  The Wiki is fully functional.
  
  
• Staff Publication Database
  
  The database cannot be updated at present, you see the version as of September 2022.
  
  
• ScriptaPaedagogica
  
  All digitized documents are available again, including the corresponding PDF files.

• Website of the project »MythErz - Educational Myths about the GDR«
  
  The website will not be relaunched in its original version. A new platform with extended content is under construction and will go online in 2024.
